The biggest game of the decade is on the way, but when can you pre-load it?
Aidan O'Brien November 3, 2026 10:43 AM Rockstar Games 1Grand Theft Auto 6 is on the way, and if you are an eager beaver who's already pre-ordered your copy, you may be wondering when you can start your pre-load. The good news is that Rockstar has considered the plight of people with slow internet and those buying physical copies, so the pre-load window is quite large.
When can you pre-load GTA 6?
Pre-loading for GTA 6 begins on November 10 for digital PlayStation 5 customers, at midnight local time, per the official Rockstar website. On XBOX Series X|S, pre-loading begins globally on Tuesday, November 10 at 12 AM GMT. That gives you more than a week before GTA 6 launches on November 19 to complete your pre-load, as long as you have pre-purchased the game.
For console players, physical copies won't include a disc; they'll include a download code. Those pre-orders will become available starting November 12, so you can get your copy and take advantage of the pre-load as well.
Needless to say, you will need an active internet connection and your console (Xbox Series X, S, or PlayStation 5) to download the game. If you are unsure about pre-ordering, check out our Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-order guide to see what you get when you pre-order and what each edition includes, so you can make an informed decision.
Keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for more information about Rockstar Games’ upcoming title.
