Hello Games are truly expanding No Man's Sky into a forever space sandbox aren't they? The new Cosmos update is out and it's another massive one.
Exciting for the upcoming Steam Frame too - as they added support for "foveated rendering on PCVR". Which will help performance, since it will render at better quality towards where you're looking. Sounds really neat.
Pretty cool to see it directly in No Man's Sky, hopefully something I'll be able to test whenever we can purchase the Steam Frame (Valve still haven't replied to GamingOnLinux on it).
As for other additions to No Man's Sky the Cosmos update brings in space station management, orbital building, massive space hulks to find and salvage, an alliances system, deep space outposts, a new star system map and to bring it all together - much more space exploration is now possible including the ability to reach the sun (not that you'll want to…), developer commentary and so much more. You can even just leave your ship in space and float around to do some spacewalking.

For players on Steam Deck / Steam Machine I will note one very annoying quirk - it refuses to let you use any other gamepad layout in Steam Input apart from the official one. It will always revert back to the official layout. Annoying, because by default, the Inventory button was broken and kept taking screenshots.
A problem that has been reported to them, quite a few times, and still not properly solved. In the end, I discovered you could put Steam Input for your gamepad config into Mouse / Keyboard, then back to the official layout and then it all works properly.
Aside from that - wow. I am shocked at just how smooth it is on the Steam Machine at 2560x1400 on the High preset with FSR 2 not budging an inch below 60FPS. I really do think my Steam Machine is now about to turn into a No Man's Sky machine because I got instantly sucked back into it on a fresh save to really check out everything new over the last few updates.
