Brand-new GTA 6 NPC details have been revealed, including fat cops, NPC accessories, NPC behavior, and much more.
The Grand Theft Auto series is well known for delivering an authentic open-world experience, largely thanks to its NPC behavior. With the upcoming release of GTA 6, the game is set to enhance this aspect even further. It has been confirmed that a wide variety of new animations will ensure NPCs appear and behave uniquely. Additionally, we’ve learned more about how these characters will behave.
New GTA 6 NPC Behavior Details
A new set of details about GTA 6 has been revealed through MikeShowSha’s conversation with Rob Nelson when attending the preview event. The details have been translated by El_Pintor64 on r/GTA 6 and also covered in a new TGG video. Check out the new NPC details below.
NPCs Will Try to Disarm Players
NPCs will behave differently depending on how visibly armed players are in the game. Some of these can approach players to try to disarm them, while others will run away or show fear. Players also saw an instance of this in the extended look when an NPC approached Lucia during a robbery.

Players Will Be Able to Acquire and Equip NPC Accessories in GTA 6
During the session, Mike found himself in a fight with two NPCs, where one of them ended up dropping their hat and glasses. These items were found on the ground, and Jason could go up to them, pick them up, and wear them. This feature could be helpful when trying to change your appearance while running away from the cops.
GTA 6 Has Fat Cops and Dynamic Car Crashes
During Mike’s preview of GTA 6, he noted police NPC behavior and discovered that different officers have varying physical capabilities. At one point, a heavier police officer attempted to chase Jason on foot, but Jason managed to outrun him. When Mike looked back, he saw the officer “bent over, exhausted, and out of breath.”
It was revealed that the dramatic police car crashes shown in the extended look for GTA 6 were unscripted. During his preview session, Mike observed Rob shooting at police cars, and each vehicle responded differently each time. Additionally, Rob Nelson recreated a crash similar to the one featured in the trailer.

Robberies Can Open Up More Opportunities
Mike noticed two new NPC behaviors when playing GTA 6. In the first robbery of a normal shop, the cashier revealed that there was a safe in the back room when he was threatened. Players then had the choice to either go for the bigger score or escape with the cash they had already stolen.
The creator also experienced a random crime event in the open world, where two masked women got trapped while trying to rob a jewelry shop and asked Jason and Lucia for help. Players can choose to help them and then steal the jewelry. Rockstar told Mike that they themselves hadn’t experienced this situation for months during their own testing.
GTA 6 NPCs Have Different Clothing Depending on the Area
Lastly, NPCs will have different clothing depending on the location they are in, with Mike noticing NPCs wearing sportswear near gyms and having normal clothing in Jason’s neighborhood.
